Although Jack Reilly is best known for his abstract paintings, on occasion he also works across boundaries combining abstraction, representational, and mixed media/mixed genre painting.
Below you will find samples of work from various periods ranging from the late 1980s to 2020. These pieces are executed on complex shaped canvases which integrate figurative imagery with various modes of abstraction and mixed media. Reilly's multi-faceted approach address numerous issues, combining modernist methods with aspects of classical painting and historical/social narrative. Recognized by art critics as "quintessentially postmodern," Reilly explores this combination with his unique approach to addressing conceptual and visual aspects of contemporary painting.
