The Varsity Club orchestra, led by Jack Reilly on alto saxophone, was active in New York City from 1937- 1942 and 1945-1947. The orchestra performed throughout the New York and Long Island area, playing venues at the Waldorf-Astoria, the Carmelite Collegiate Club, Vasa Ballroom and the Park Avenue Vanderbilt Hotel among many others. In late 1942 Reilly was drafted into World War II and the orchestra disbanded. After returning from the War in 1945, Reilly and remaining band members reunited the band and performed through 1947.
